Rejigging some UCalgaryBlogs plans

I’d originally planned on doing a full-scale rollout of the BuddyPress social media layer. It’s extremely promising, but it looks like it makes this server fall over. So, for now, that’s being pushed back a bit.

But. I’m extremely eager to start putting together some tools that will let UCalgaryBlogs be used as a collaborative authoring and publishing platform, based on the great work modelled by BCCampus. I’m looking into rolling out the PressBooks plugin, with some tweaks authored by BCCampus.

Why PressBooks? You’d be able to author open digital textbooks using UCalgaryBlogs. Create a great book, publish it for students, and share it with the world. Or, students can collaborate on a book. Or various permutations of this.
